Description

Intro

Okay, if Putting your hoof down doesn't get me on your hate list maybe Mysterious Mare Do Well will.

Synopsis

We start off and the CMC's club house where Scootaloo is apparently hosting a Rainbowdash fan club and Rainbowdsh was outside listening. And that was, entirely pointless. Later Rainbowdash relaxes by going cloud swimming till she hears a cry for help. A filly has fallen down a well and thus Rainbowdash flies to the rescue crashing throught the closed well and comes out with the filly. A crowd surrounds her and cheers her on and the filly calls her her hero. Rainbowdash actually handles it modestly and flies off. Some time later A baby carriage rolls down a cliff as the mother screams and it's Rainbowdash to the rescue. Ranbowdash stops it just in the nick of time and she notices and a crowd cheers her on again, and Rainbowdash makes a sick baby joke. Camera ponies start taking pictures as Rainbowdash vask in her glory and even draws a lightning bolt in the sky. Sometime later a balcony with elder ponies breaks, geez when did Ponyville become a danger zone?! Rainbowdash swoops in while making a Spiderman reference and rescues them and starts enjoying the attention she's getting, Twilight starts thinking that this is all starting to go to Rainbowdash's head. Sometime later Rainbowdash tells her stories to the towns ponies at Sugarcube Corner while mild mannered reporter Clark Kent, I mean Spike takes notes. Twilight and the others are getting pretty annoyed with Rainbowdash's gloating. Rainbowdash later signs autographs as a hot air balloons starts falling from the sky. Rainbowdash then flies to the rescue while Spike provides the super hero narration and another pony dressed in a Darkwing Duck outfit rescues the falling victim leaving Rainbowdash to fall with the balloon. Teh crowd cheers on the new hero and the Mayor dubs this new hero the Mysterious Mare Do Well, leaving a very jealous Rainbowdash as he/she runs off in the distance. Later a passenger wagon falls down the same cliff from earlier. Rainbowdash tries to stop it but can't until the Mysterious Mare Do Well stops it just short of the edge of the cliff, the crowd cheers and she vanishes again. Later at a construction site a construction pony loses control of a crane causing the construction site to collapse. Rainbowdash again tries to be the hero and just tries to avoid the falling debrie and the Mysterious Mare Do Well rescues a pony while Rainbowdash rescues another and only the Mysterious Mare Do Well gets the credit and disappears and Rainbowdash is really getting frustrated. Later a dam has a crack in it and Rainbowdash tries to fix it by sticking her hoof in the crack, good luck holding it all day by the way, but the dam breaks Washes Rainbowdash away and she gets rescued by non other Mysterious Mare Do Well who then reveals herself as a unicorn and uses magic to fix the dam, then as usual the crowd cheers and she disappears. Rainbow figures that she may have the advantage in flight but then Mysterious Mare Do Well flies by her, apparently she's an alicorn, Rainbowdash is of course pretty upset. Rainbowdash tries to relax at Sugarcube Corner as her friends compliment Mysterious Mare Do Well. Rainbowdash has had enough and tries to be the top hero and actually flies around Ponyville looking for trouble. She helps Granny Smith across the street or rather shoves her across it and gets wacked with her purse as she never wanted to cross. Um you're trying to be a hero, not a girl scoot. She tries to help some pony with a peanut butter jar and fails. And she mows the lawn, I'm not kidding and claims that she saved that lawn from leaves, okay, Rainbowdash really seems to have been hit with the stupid stick, how does doing yard work make you a hero? And every one leaves because apparently they think she's crazy, and I don't blame them. Rainbowdash sulks on a rain cloud in an actually kind of sad scene as she's apparently alone, till Scootaloo calls for her. Scootaloo ask if Rainbowdash wants to go the the Thank you Mare Do Well parade. Rainbowdash refuses and Scootaloo just goes without her, even her biggest fan has left her. Rainbowdash last minute changes her mind and goes. As the mayor introduces the Mysterious Mare Do Well Rainbowdash just barges on stage and tries to unmask her and chases her through town which is earily abandoned, did everyone attend the parade? After some Scooby Doo chase sequences Rainbowdash finally catches her and reveals, Pinkie Pie? Actually it was four, Pinkie Fluttershy, Twilight, and Applejack, and Rarity made the costumes. All of them played the Mysterious Mare Do Well ad different times. Apparently the just wanted to teach Rainbowdash about humility, and Rainbowdash actually gets the message. Just as Spike is about to write the letter to Princess Celestia Rainbowdash makes a ghost joke and that scares Pinkie and Spike off, somehow. Rainbowdash is about to write the moral and winks at the audience.

Problems

Unlike Putting your hoof down, this episode does indeed have problems. For one thing the towns savings do all seem a bit too convient. I mean not only does Ponyville suddenly become a danger zone just recently but also just so happen to occur right at the exact locations where Rainbowdash is. And the segment at the beginning with Scootaloo's fan club seems pretty pointless. I guess you could argue that it establishes Scootaloo as Rainbowdash's fan thus makes her turning to Mysterious Mare Do Well a bigger shock, but come on why a club, you could have just had Scootaloo attend in the crowds and talk about how awsome Rainbowdash was and that would have been enough to establish her as a Rainbowdash fan.

Praises

Honestly this is actually the better super hero parody of the two episodes. There are less contrivances and while Power Ponies annoyed me with it's clitches here the clitches actually work. Namely this episode kinda satarizes the clitches poking fun at them while in Power Ponies the characters play the clithes way too seriously. Having Rainbowdash use those Spiderman lines, Spike as Clark Kent taking notes, and the Mysterious Mare Do Well as Darkwing Duck with some allusions to Batman were some nice bits. Aside from the conviency of all the troubles nothing else felt forced like in Power Ponies. And Rainbowdash actually does learn a lesson in humility and the episode didn't go out of it's wayto shove it into the viewers face like in Power Ponies. So yeah, I don't really get why this episode is so hated, it's not one of the best, but certainly doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting. It's certainly a much more well put together super hero parody by my books.

So yeah it's not one of the best episodes, but it by no means is bad at least by my standards. With this and Putting your hoof down as some episodes I consider good Merriwhether by no means ever was a writer that I disliked. I know I'm not changing minds here and frankly neither am I. Well, it's been fun getting alot of people to hate me, so next time will hopefully be a more unanimous episode among the fandom.

It only fails in two scenes that make the episode just okay.
